Gateway Arch

Our vacation included a trip to the Gateway Arch. We enjoyed the museum. Lauren, the girls, and Frederick took the tram to the top. Abe and I stayed downstairs to shop.

We went on vacation...

We went on a vacation, spending the first night with friends in Tupelo, MS. We stayed at their cabin on a pond. It was a good time. Here is a pic of the fam. Frederick didn't really want to take a picture. He just wanted to play on his kindle.

All in all....

All in all, a good day, ran 5k. Co, Ber, Bri ran about .5 mi and Abe ran .75 mi with me. Did some housework. All the women folk got awesome haircuts. Ber finished her vocals for hf2. Completed 4 basic tracks on my (non kids) next album. Watched a soccer game on tv. Life is good.

Colette Wins Big!

Last night was the 6th grade awards presentation. Colette had a great night, coming away with several honors, including winning the D.A.R.E. Essay in her class (and now going to the district competition), and receiving the Presidential Gold Education Award. She averaged an "A" through her grade school years. I'm a proud Dad!

Zoo

Lauren took the girls to see the play "Wicked". so I took the boys to the zoo. We had a good a time, although I think they enjoyed the snowballs, the carousel, and playing in the waterpark "Cool Zoo" more than looking at the animals.

5K

I ran my first 5K yesterday! Pretty stoked. Didn't stop, didn't walk. Lauren ( a two-time state champ), finished 2nd.

Back in the swing of things?

We returned home from a vacation Tuesday night. I wanted to get some things done in the studio Wednesday, but was somewhat distracted. A coyote attack killed a dog across the street, and had some errands to run after being away. Most of my time however, was spent researching things on the business and production ends, which I am pretty sure caused my head to spin in an abnormal manner. I did spend some time remixing vocals on the Neutron Wednesday and Fred Clark singles, but not sure it was what I really wanted so I just reverted back to what I had. Liked it better that way anyway. Then, I spent some time trying to create with the Kaossilator. Nothing really came of it though. Maybe I wasn't really back in the swing of things.

Update

Wow!–I haven’t been much of a blogger, maybe time for a change. I am currently involved in the following projects:

Fred Clark—I’ve received airplay in 17 countries and performed on television with my original alt-country/folk rock type songs. My children’s album, Happy Fun made it on the Grammy ballot.

Fred and Lauren–My wife and I–started out as a couple of tunes as tributes to the New Orleans Saints football team, will be releasing cover tunes.

Neutron Wednesday–A new electronic based project I am working on. Mixture of covers and originals.

Lauren Lottinger–My wife. She has released one single to date with more to come. I help her with the songwriting.

Current plan is to release singles on a regular basis starting soon.

New video-Loose Cannon

I used some original photographs I took, including balloon weights, feathered boas, leis, bottles of Gatorade, stained glass, a drinking glass, gift bags, vases,and a light bulb, with my image superimposed via a "green screen" aka chroma key. I actually used a green bed sheet tacked on the wall for that special effect. For the most part, due to the closeups, you can't really tell what the photographs are, they just look like really cool back grounds. The song is a short one, only about a minute and a half. Happy Fun and the Saints song

Who would have thought that my first two releases after my hiatus would be a children’s album with my daughters and a duet with my wife on an ‘80’s cover song remade with New Orleans Saints lyrics? Good thing I’m not a betting man, but I wanted my family to be involved and they certainly have been!
Happy Fun has been just that. It was fun recording in the studio and fun making the Happy Fun and The Turkey Song videos. We have more videos planned—assuming my aged camera holds up. It has been a bit fickle of late. Of course, if anyone with higher grade eqiupment wants to be involved, feel free to let me know.
Not sure what happens other than that. We would like to do some live shows but don’t have anything planned yet. We also have a new song and a few others in the works. We hope to record another album if sales of Happy Fun justifies it. I am very encouraged, and it is good to know that fans are making multilpe purchases.

We’ve been talking about doing a Saints song since before the season started, and pretty early on I thought the Sly Fox song, “Let’s Go All The Way” would be perfect. I always liked that song. We were distracted by Happy Fun, the holidays, and other day to day responsibilites in general. Lauren kept saying we had to get it done, so she wrote the new lyrics and set it all in motion. Trenell was able to lay down the instrumental tracks and have everything ready for us when we went into Big Bang Studio on the 10th. Things went very smoothly in the vocal booth. Lots of discussion went on about the mix—-long story short—Lauren was right, and we were able to release the song on the 14th. Lauren did an excellent job on the video. She has some other ideas in mind for future “Fred and Lauren” projects.

My mind now turns to the non-children, non duet aspect of my career. 2 songs were recorded last summer back in the St. Louis area. I have about 9 other songs that I want to record with my mates up there. I’m thinking I will be releasing those songs as singles eventually.
I’m also hopeful to record an album here. I’ve recorded some of those demos with my mates in Luling. Now its just a matter of finding the time to rehearse with the band, record the demos and putting the financing together to go into the big studio.
I have another project in mind too, but first things first. I also wouldn’t mind playing bass again in a band either, just in case someone is looking....

Lauren Runs!

Today Lauren ran at a race in New Orleans and won in the Grand Masters Category. Later, we shot video for the Turkey Song. Hope to debut it later this week.

Voice Of The Wetlands

This weekend the Voice of the Wetlands Festival took place at the Southdown Plantation here in Houma. The event, created by Houma musician Tab Benoit, is meant to raise money to help save our wetlands here in south Louisiana before it is too late.
Lauren ran in the 10K race, and won! She had to sprint the last 100 meteres or so to hold off a competitor. She won by 2 seconds!
My old friend Susan Cowsill was one of the performers, and it has been several years since I had seen her. She put on a great show, and was joined by her brothers to play some Cowsills hits from the past. Luckily, I was able to spend a few minutes backstage with them.

Okay, so maybe I'm not back in the blogging sense. Time seems to be something I have very little of, and I haven't been able to make blogging part of the routine.
Anyway, we finished recording the Happy Fun kids CD, and are awaiting the duplications to arrive from New Jersey. The pic is the album cover.
